Kinaway (meaning to exchange in the language of the Gunnai/Kurnai peoples of East Gippsland’s southern region of the Victorian Alps), located on Bunurong country near Albert Park Lake in Melbourne’s luscious southern end of the Hobsons Bay area, was established to grow the capacity of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business sector, its entrepreneurs, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business leadership by providing a range of core services, which offer an essential framework to promote and support businesses’ ongoing operations to achieve economic empowerment, independence and self-determination.
The Chair and Directors of the Board are all successful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business owners whose vision collectively is to intrinsically interweave clever business acumen and expert financial savvy with core values of cultural protocol and essential elements of self-determination to ensure our businesses are fully supported in developing and maintaining business networks and to promote the value of our companies in the contribution we make to the Victorian economy. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to experience Kinaway and our members and partners working toward the shared vision to increase economic opportunities available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People, to be empowered and independently lead their businesses to participate and actively contribute to Victoria’s business economy.
Working directly with key stakeholders, the government and a board of directors, the CEO will implement Kinaway’s strategic plan and grow and develop the Corporation's investment in its people. Additionally, it is expected the CEO will drive the expansion of business interests with a vision to create a sustainable business model, which must include the engagement and empowerment of its members among the public by investing in the community’s economic future. Engagement with a broad range of valued stakeholders is required; the CEO must be comfortable dealing with people at all levels.
As the CEO, you will be responsible for leading the company's strategic direction, overseeing day-to-day operations and driving growth and innovation, ensuring the valued contribution to the organisation's continued success, sustainability and longevity. To our team and businesses, you will be a trusted advisor and partner who works collectively and efficiently to assist in converting ideas and aspirations into tangible products and services and, in turn, sustainable profit, for our businesses.
The successful candidate will possess a track record of growing an organisation with a high-performance culture that truly values diversity and reconciliation with high regard for the value of Aboriginal self-determination and respect for Aboriginal people. Your exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, public presentation, community engagement expertise, and strategic and commercial understanding will be highly regarded. At an interpersonal level, the successful candidate will have highly developed emotional intelligence, exceptional communication skills and political nous to bring a high energy level and a progressive and futuristic mindset as an impactful leader and pioneer, liaison, community engagement and policy innovator. The CEO will value a vision and knowledge to increase influence within local, state, and federal government, which will be highly valued.
