About the Role

The Development Manager will play a key role in delivering new social and affordable housing projects across Melbourne and regional Victoria. With a number of projects currently under construction and more in the pipeline, the primary focus of this role is on project execution, contractor and consultant management, client reporting and risk mitigation to ensure successful delivery within time, budget, and compliance parameters.

Reporting to Development Director – Design & Delivery, this role presents an opportunity to work at the intersection of private industry, government, and community housing sectors, shaping projects that have a lasting social impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage project delivery, ensuring milestones, budgets, and compliance requirements are met.
• Coordinate planning approvals and regulatory compliance, working with government authorities.
• Oversee design development, ensuring projects meet funding and community expectations.
• Lead feasibility assessments and financial modelling, supporting business case development.
• Engage with key stakeholders, including housing providers, investors, and councils.
• Support the transition from project completion to operational management, ensuring long-term sustainability.

About You

This role will suit a strategic yet hands-on professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering impactful housing solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential development, with experience managing projects from feasibility through to construction and operational handover. They will be commercially astute, detail-oriented, and proactive, capable of balancing financial, regulatory, and stakeholder requirements to deliver successful affordable housing outcomes.

Key Skills & Experience

• Proven expertise in project delivery, particularly in residential development be it greenfield and or medium/high density.
• Deep understanding of town planning and approvals, with experience managing regulatory processes.
• Hands-on design management experience, working with architects and consultants to optimise outcomes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, ensuring alignment with clients, investors, and regulatory bodies.
• Strong financial and feasibility analysis skills, ensuring projects are viable and well-structured.
