About The Opportunity

The Environment & Planning directorate is looking for two experienced Environmental Health Officers to join their team on a permanent basis at the Civic Centre, located in Hurstville.

This position reports into the Senior Environmental Health Officer and will be involved in working as part of the Health & Regulatory Services function. The Environmental Health Officer will be expected to deliver environmental, food and public health regulatory programs including the inspection of food and public health premises, responding to service requests. 

  • 2 x Permanent, Full-Time – 70 hours per fortnight
  • Salary from $94,478.15- $109,466.82 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health or similar field.
  • Class C Driver's License
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience in all Environmental Health functions including the competent delivery of inspections, investigation and enforcement under the Food Act 2003, Public Health Act 2010, Local Government Act 1993 and the Protection of the
  • Environmental Operations Act 1997.
  • Proven mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and the ability to liaise effectively and professionally with external bodies.   
  • Knowledge and ability to follow processes and procedures associated with regulatory investigations and inspections/audits.
