ABOUT THE ROLE:

The GEDSI and Safeguarding Advisor plays a crucial role in Australia in advancing KTF’s commitment to integrating best practice across programming and monitoring efforts. The GEDSI and Safeguarding Advisor will collaborate with all Program Managers across Education, Health, Equality and Leadership to implement GEDSI mainstreaming and uphold safeguarding compliance, training and reporting practices. Additionally, the GEDSI & Safeguarding Advisor will lead KTF’s Project Zero, focused on addressing Gender-based Violence and Child Protection in Oro Province.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

GEDSI Mainstreaming & Safeguarding - key tasks include:

  • Development, monitoring and implementation & maintenance of place-based gender and disability analyses;
  • Contributing/Advising on Theories of Change and Project Designs with GEDSI & Safeguarding;
  • Working with Heads of and Program Managers to develop project level risk analyses in safeguarding and cross cutting areas of Child Protection, and SEAH;
  • Working with Heads of and Program managers to develop specific analyses and screening tools in the safeguarding and cross-cutting areas of Child Protection, SEAH, and GEDSI where applicable;
  • Partner capacity building in GEDSI & Safeguarding across all programs;
  • Chairing and managing relevant working group meetings and items to ensure continuous review and learning;
  • Managing all incident reports of Child Protection and SEAH, including case management and onward reporting to DFAT and authorities where relevant;
  • Providing regular training to staff, partners, board and volunteers on core zero-tolerance policies, practices and processes;
  • Orientating all new starters to KTF’s GEDSI & safeguarding policies, practices and processes;
  • Providing technical support to staff on gender, disability and GBV as well as Child Protection and SEAH;
  • Providing technical support to staff on GEDSI for Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning;
  • Supporting the CEO and COO to incorporate GEDSI and safeguarding into fundraising reports, annual reports and strategy papers.

Project Zero Management - key tasks include:

  • Planning: using the Project Design Document, the Project Life Cycle and annual budget, you will work with the COO & Head of Localisation to develop an annual work plan, mapping out key activities, milestones and outputs of the project;
  • Implementation: delivery of all project activities as mapped in the annual workplan against the budget on time and within budget. Reporting any changes/diversion from plans to COO;
  • Project specific delivery: organising all awareness and training activities associated with Project Zero, including coordinating training provided by partner organisations. Also, management of the Safe Haus including regular liaison with Safe Haus Manager, day-to-day support and management of the Safe Haus operations, monitoring on survivors, oversight of the survivors training program and coordination of repatriations of survivors.
  • Partnership Management: including the management of the partnership documents and the relationship between the various partners for efficient project delivery.
  • Risk Management, Issues & Complaints: identification and mitigation of risks, project risk registers updated regularly, tracking and responding to issues and complaints, actively keeping abreast of all risk areas and following KTF reporting processes for breaches of policy;
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: regular data collection including instigation of baseline data collection activities, entering and analysing data, submission of quarterly report in a timely manner, submission of field reports in a timely manner and assisting partners and other staff with the completion of monitoring reports;
  • Communications & relationships: Building of strong relationships with staff, contractors, volunteers and partners to effectively and efficiently implement the project. Regular communication with KTF PNG staff including in-field staff.

YOUR SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Specialist technical skills and experience in GEDSI and/or Safeguarding work
  • Excellent organisational skills;
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written;
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly, succinctly and professionally;
  • Strong capability with the use of Microsoft office;
  • The ability to coordinate several tasks at a time;
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, productive working environment;
  • Innovative attitude surrounding the harnessing of technology for managing and reflecting on data from the field and in reporting;
  • A degree in a relevant field (international development, gender, social work or similar);
  • At least 4 years’ experience working for an NGO, Government or Managing Contractor or similar and experience in GEDSI or Safeguarding role;
  • A can-do attitude with fantastic problem-solving skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.

This position will require travel both domestically and internationally to PNG from time to time.

LOCATION:

KTF Head Office – Balmain, Sydney. Remote working candidates in South-East Queensland, Melbourne and Adelaide will be considered.
