The preferred candidate will join KTF in a full-time capacity on an initial 12-month contract.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

KTF is seeking a highly motivated professional for a Program Manager – Health position based in Australia to oversee and manage KTF’s Healthy Communities and Kicks for Kokoda projects in Oro Province, Papua New Guinea. The role will also provide ad hoc support across other projects as required.

The Program Manager will be responsible for leading the implementation of health-related programs, ensuring the smooth delivery of health promotion and training activities, overseeing project budgets, logistics, monitoring and evaluation, and stakeholder engagement. The role requires strong coordination, strategic oversight, and operational management skills to ensure project success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key tasks include:

  • Program Management: Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of KTF’s Healthy Communities and Kicks for Kokoda programs, ensuring they align with KTF’s strategic goals and donor requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, community leaders, healthcare professionals, and local and international partners.
  • Financial and Resource Management: Manage program budgets, ensuring funds are allocated efficiently and in compliance with financial policies.
  • Procurement & Logistics: Oversee the procurement of resources, including health supplies, and coordinate with KTF logistics team for deliveries, international and domestic freight, and shipping.
  • Travel & Security Coordination: Arrange travel and transport within PNG for staff, volunteers, and consultants, ensuring security and compliance with KTF protocols.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting: Lead data collection, analysis, and reporting in consultation with KTF MEL team on program impact, contributing to donor reports and internal evaluations.
  • Team Leadership & HR Support: Provide oversight and support to in-field staff, ensuring effective program delivery and alignment with KTF policies.
  • Operational Efficiency: Develop and implement streamlined administrative and program management processes for more efficient project delivery.
  • Cross-Project Support: Provide ad hoc support to other KTF projects as needed, contributing to the broader objectives of the organisation.

YOUR SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree (or 3+ years of experience) in public health, international development, project management, logistics, administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in program management, particularly in health, community development, or sports-based health initiatives.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience liaising with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with technology and various operating systems (GSuite, Slack, Dropbox, Microsoft Office).
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and adapt to challenges in fast-paced environments.
  • A strong commitment to gender equity, disability inclusion, and child safeguarding.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Applicants must have the right to work in Australia. The role is open to applicants based in Sydney, who will work from our Sydney office; or we will consider applicants from other parts of Australia who can work remotely (we currently have WFH arrangements in QLD, VIC, and SA).
