Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking an Executive Manager Community Services to be based in Kowanyama.

About the role
This role will be responsible for the planning, development and delivery of all community social services for all members of the community.
The Executive Manager Community Services role plays an integral part of the Executive Management Team to lead and manage the development and implementation of Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council's Operational Plan and Budget.
Selection criteria
- Tertiary qualification in Social Policy or Community Management, or other relevant discipline
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in social services strategy and social and community services delivery
- Demonstrated (7 to 10 years) experience at a senior management level
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team in a professional and positive manner with the ability to be tactful, discrete and maintain confidentiality when dealing with matters of a sensitive nature
- Demonstrated ability to self-manage, meet deadlines and workflows utilising a high level of initiative
- Highly developed written and interpersonal skills in dealing with a range of internal and external customers with a proven track record of meeting deadlines, exercising sound judgment and initiatives
- Demonstrated high level of proficiency in the use of desktop software applications
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultured and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Indigenous people
- Experience working and living in remote areas and/or Aboriginal communities would be highly regarded
Successful applicants will also be required to obtain a Police Clearance, a Working with Children Blue Card, and a Queensland Open Drivers Licence.
