Kurbingui Youth & Family Development is a not-for-profit Aboriginal community-controlled organisation. Established in 2001, we have continued to grow in the number of services delivered to the community in areas such as employment and training, family support, domestic and family violence, alcohol and substance abuse, cultural education and engagement, support targeting successful educational outcomes for families and children and young people from preschool to tertiary, recreation and sports, early years, youth, women and men, cultural group activities, social, emotional well-being - suicide prevention, crisis response and treatment and health and nutrition. To strengthen our operations, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Finance Manager to join our dynamic team.

Position Overview

The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring financial integrity, and supporting strategic decision-making. You will work closely with the executive team and other departments to provide accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of non-profit financial management, excellent organisational skills, and a passion for supporting our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and sustainability.
  • Monitor cash flow, and implement financial strategies to ensure the long-term financial health of the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including taxation, reporting, and financial audits.
  • Lead the preparation for audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure smooth audit processes.
  • Provide financial advice and insights to senior management to inform decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain financial systems, internal controls, and processes to safeguard organisational assets.
  • Support fundraising efforts by tracking grant budgets, reporting on the use of funds, and ensuring compliance with donor restrictions.

Requirements

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or CA qualified required
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in financial management within a not-for-profit or charitable organisation.
  • Strong understanding of non-profit financial regulations, grant management, and donor restrictions.
  • High proficiency in Xero accounting software
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
