Kurbingui Youth and Family Development (‘Kurbingui’ or the ‘organisation’) is a registered Not-For-Profit (NFP) Aboriginal community-based organisation and a Company Limited by Guarantee operating throughout the Greater Brisbane, South East and Moreton Bay regions with connections to First Nation Communities throughout Qld and nationwide. Kurbingui programs are funded by government and non-government grants as well as self-managed revenue services and activities. The organisation is governed by a Board of Directors elected and appointed from members of the community.
Kurbingui delivers a range of programs and services aimed at improving the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. These programs and services contribute to the cultural, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with a strong focus on addressing isolation, social emotional wellbeing, poverty, discrimination, family issues and unemployment through the provision of case management, therapeutic support, outreach, community development, education, training, community events and activities.
Kurbingui partners with the three levels of government, other not-for-profit organisations, agencies, Elders and community members. Our staff members undertake their duties as a collaborative team working to the organisation’s policies, procedures, relevant legislation and professional practice standards. Our teams are flexible, multi-skilled and work effectively and sensitively with a diverse range of individuals, multi-disciplinary groups and community agencies to ensure high quality and culturally safe services to our community members.
The Combined Family and Child Connect for the Greater Brisbane region is delivered by Kurbingui Youth and Family Development. This integrated model within our Community is called “Yadeni Tago” which is Turrbal language for “Advancing Together”. The program acknowledges the strengths of a diverse and multi-skilled team and has been a great opportunity for all team members to share their skills and knowledge including working with families using various culturally safe frameworks, approaches, and practice for Indigenous, non-Indigenous, and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse families. Yadeni Tago staff are committed to maintain professional and culturally safe environments for both staff and families they work with.
Yadeni Tago is a Queensland Government-funded initiative aimed at ensuring vulnerable families and children have access to high-quality services at the right time to support them to maintain the family unit. Yadeni Tago provides a quality service through the assessment and recommendation of culturally appropriate responses comprising all aspects of intake, engagement, assessment, information, advice and referral to support services within a time-limited period.
The primary purpose of the role is to provide senior leadership to staff in the development and implementation of the high quality culturally safe support services of the Yadeni Tago (FaCC) Service. Duties include networking and regional engagement of the local service system, the development and maintenance of quality practice and strategic relationships with government and non-government organisations (NGO) services, support for staff undertaking their daily duties and support for the Local Level Alliance staff. This role provides support to the Program Manager of Yadeni Tago and work collaboratively with the the Kurbingui Senior Leadership Team in the ongoing culturally safe management and delivery of services.
This position offers a competitive remuneration package in line with the 'Fisher' & '316 Regulation' pay scale and Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award.
Employment is conditional upon maintaining a positive blue card, clear personal driving history and police screening checks prior to and throughout employment.
