We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Director to join our team at Kurilpa Community Child Care Centre in West End, Brisbane. This permanent part-time position offers flexible hours (32 hours per week over 4 days), making it ideal for an aspiring leader looking to step into a management role while maintaining a work-life balance.

At Kurilpa, we value our educators and recognise their contributions by offering above-award wages for permanent full-time and part-time employees. The salary for this position is based on the Children’s Services Award, dependent on qualifications and experience, plus superannuation contributions of 11%.

about the role

As Assistant Director, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and professional culture, ensuring strong relationships with colleagues, families, and the wider community. Working closely with the Centre Director, you will:

  • Lead by example, modelling best practices in communication, inclusive practice, conflict resolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Support and contribute to a culture of learning, helping drive professional development initiatives and team training.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Quality Framework, relevant legislation, and the centre’s governance structure.
  • Assist in daily operations and administration, including enrolments, waitlists, transitions, and staff rostering to optimise outcomes for children and families.
  • Maintain high-quality education and care standards, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment.
  • Learn and support financial management processes, gaining insight into budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Ensure best practices in health, hygiene, and safety across the centre.
  • Engage in hands-on support for educators and children, stepping into rooms when needed to maintain ratios and provide direct guidance.
  • Communicate openly and transparently with staff, families, and the Management Committee.
  • Take on leadership responsibilities in the Director’s absence, ensuring seamless operation and excellence in service delivery.
