Founded in 1995, Lieschke & Weatherill Lawyers is a leading employment and work injury law firm. In employment and work injury related matters, L&W acts exclusively for workers and Unions. L&W is strongly committed to the Union movement and advancing workers’ rights. L&W also acts for injured persons in motor vehicle, public liability and medical negligence matters.
L&W is seeking to recruit at least one lawyer. Recruiting the person who is the best “fit” for L&W is the central consideration. Accordingly, the identified desirable characteristics will be applied flexibly.
Candidates without experience in industrial/employment or motor vehicle/public liability/medical negligence litigation should still apply. L&W conducts substantial industrial/employment litigation and some motor vehicle/public liability/medical negligence litigation. Applicants with experience in statutory workers compensation litigation will have the opportunity to become involved in significant industrial/employment litigation and potentially motor vehicle/public liability/medical negligence litigation, to expand their practice experience.
L&W generally has in mind a full-time position, but is open to alternatives.
L&W’s strong focus on putting clients first makes for fulfilling work.
L&W’s relationship with the union movement makes working at L&W being a part of something bigger. This can allow clients to pursue matters which would otherwise be beyond their reach.
L&W gives experienced practitioners substantial freedom in the conduct of their practice, within the firm’s practice model. We foster a collegiate working environment.
L&W has flexible working arrangements (including rostered days off and flexibility about where and when work is done), including through an enterprise agreement.
L&W doesn't have a website or an "online presence" - so don't be surprised when you don't find one! For many years, through word-of-mouth and relationships L&W has been fortunate enough to receive substantially more requests from potential new clients seeking that L&W act for them than we can accommodate. That has made a website and advertising unnecessary. This has allowed solicitors to focus on representing clients rather than trying to attract new ones. One of the reasons L&W seeks to recruit is to allow us to help more of the people who would like us to act for them.
Remuneration and job title will be negotiated with successful candidates, having regard to practise experience.
