About City Mission:

City Mission is a respected, rapidly growing, values-driven organisation operating in the North, North-East and North-West of Tasmania. Our goal is to offer life transformation through a range of client services.

Our Social Enterprise division encompasses Retail Shops, Logistics, and Circular Economy enterprises. At present we operate 11 Mission Shops and 2 warehouses. We also have contracts with 5 local councils to operate recycling and resale enterprises.

About the role:

The General Manager Social Enterprise role presents an opportunity for a leader to make a significant impact to the organisation's operations, revenue and performance.

This role will be critical to the organisation's future success by ensuring that an innovative and commercial viewpoint is brought and embedded into the organisation by offering experience and leadership to the Retail, Logistics and Circular Economy businesses within the organisation.

Based in Launceston, but with travel throughout the north of the state, you will be responsible for executing the strategic plan in partnership with the CEO and Leadership Team.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential Qualifications/Experience:

  • Degree (Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar management position
  • Extensive experience in Social Enterprise Management.
  • Experience in leading retail and/or other businesses requiring customer management, stock control, purchasing oversight, logistics, warehousing and analysis of business performance
  • Ability to oversee and implement legislation pertaining to Social Enterprise Operations and Work Health and Safety requirements
  • Ability to manage a diverse team including paid and unpaid workers
  • Ability to manage staff and operations over multiple locations
  • Demonstrated innovative strategic thinking and planning.
  • Strong relationship building, communication and analytical skills.
  • Skills in management reporting and budgeting.
  • Ability to multi-task, plan and manage a team to effectively achieve tight deadlines.
  • Highly Proficient with MS Office.
  • National Police Check is required for all roles at LCM
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Card. (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:

  • Experience or demonstrated capacity to work in an organisation adopting a Christian ethos.
  • Experience with recycling and the circular economy.
  • Experience in developing and achieving assigned tasks within an organisational strategic planning framework.

The position is responsible for the strategic and operational aspects of the Social Enterprise operations of City Mission throughout North, North-East and the North-West Tasmania and oversee the implementation of innovative projects, products, or processes to drive business growth and maintain a competitive edge.

Primarily the General Manager Social Enterprise will be responsible for: innovation and development of new Social Enterprise ventures, leadership of Social Enterprise Management Team and multiple premises, facilitation of quality customer service, negotiation of commercial contracts, collaboration with other organisations and development of a positive work culture based on Christian ethos. The position requires the employee to develop positive working relationships with peers, management, the general public, stakeholders and other functional areas within the organisation.

This is a full-time position. As a Public Benevolent Institution, LCM employees are eligible to Salary Package through our approved provider. Due to the role requiring travel throughout the North and North-West, a car allowance and phone allowance will also be provided.
