About the opportunity:

The Community Wellbeing Worker aims to encourage and empower clients to participate in health promotion, wellbeing and to provide a harm reduction focus within Southbank Crisis Accommodation. This is to be achieved through networking within the wider community services and the Southbank community. This role focuses on coordinating and/or facilitating activities, events and education for the residents at Southbank.

This is a part-time, permanent- opportunity, based in Southbank, 45.6 hours per fortnight.

What you'll be doing:

  • Developing, implementing and promoting a range of health and wellbeing responses for clients. This may include the support and development of volunteers, students, donors, service partners, paid facilitators and community agencies.
  • Assisting and resourcing clients to utilise community services.
  • Assisting in the development of harm reduction and health promotion programs with a focus on mental health and AOD.
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative effective working relationships with other service providers to ensure an ongoing variety of wellbeing options for clients.
  • Coordinating of a schedule for events, programs and activities for residents.
  • Managing food delivery, distribution and food donations for clients to access.

What we're looking for (key selection criteria):

  • Experience in project management, including needs assessment, planning, implementation.
  • Experience in planning and facilitating group work sessions.
  • An understanding of homelessness and the issues affecting people at risk of or experiencing homelessness
  • Experience with food preparation and catering and a Food Handling Certificate (or the ability to obtain).
  • A valid Victorian driver’s license.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in human services, and direct experience in the delivery of services clients with complex needs and/or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in community-based Health Promotion and Community Development (desirable).
  • An understanding and commitment to a harm minimisation approach that both empowers residents and provides appropriate boundaries and limits (desirable).
