Gallery Assistant

Laundry Gallery

Laundry Gallery is an Aboriginal owned multidisciplinary creative hub located in Darwin, Northern Territory. We represent modern iterations of Indigenous arts and cultures and provide an accessible pathway for age-old songlines to co-exist with the modern world.

Housed in an iconic 70’s era laundromat within the historic Parap Village precinct, Laundry Gallery is a globally engaged platform for both existing and emerging artists to tell their own stories through exhibitions, workshops and events.

Using creativity as a platform, our aims are to educate and inspire people to immerse themselves in the stories of Indigenous Australia, those that have been spun since time immemorial and those that are being written today. Exhibitions cycle through monthly, with a curated selection of artisan works available in-store and online.

We run exhibitions monthly and sell art from art centres all over the NT. Since our recent opening, we have grown quickly and require a gallery assistant to work in the gallery Tuesday to Saturday. Being available to work Saturdays is a key requirement of the role.

This role will primarily be a sales role in the gallery and management of the e-commerce online store (we use the Shopify platform).

  • Assist with events and activities, workshops, events and openings that Laundry Gallery undertakes
  • Ensure the smooth running of the online store, product selection, product uploads, photography of products, shipping, customer enquiries
  • Provide excellent customer service, information and advice to customers in the Gallery

Please send through a CV, short bio on yourself, your ambitions or experience in the Aboriginal Art community in the NT (if any, this is not essential). We are a small close knit team and are looking for the right fit for the long term :) Must be based in Darwin.

Hours of work are 10 - 4pm Tuesday - Friday and 8.30am - 2pm Saturday's from the Gallery.

Availability on Saturday's is a must for this role and is our busiest day.
