Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West Inc (WHWBSW) is an independent, not-for-profit, feminist organisation committed to gender equality and health promotion that strives to improve women’s lives. It works alongside nine regional and metropolitan sister organisations in Victoria that are committed to advocating and creating change in women’s health. WHWBSW is governed by an independent, voluntary board, has 11 staff and a budget of approximately $2M.

Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West is seeking an exceptional Chief Executive Officer to passionately steer the Board’s vision and purpose through dynamic and responsive strategic and operational leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide vision and leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the WHWBSW Strategic Directions in conjunction with the Board, staff and key stakeholders.
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee management of the operations of WHWBSW, ensuring the effective delivery of services and programs in line with the Strategic Plan. Foster a safe and harmonious workplace and build a positive culture to align with the organisation’s vision and values.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Advocate for WHWBSW’s strategic objectives with key stakeholders and partner organisations.
  • Financial Leadership: Oversee all financial and risk management processes to ensure reporting obligations and budgetary goals are met and organisational viability maintained.
  • Program Leadership: Maintain WHWBSW’s commitment to work that is evidence based, regional and focussed on the social determinants of health.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to women’s health, WHWBSW's Values, and a gender-focused feminist approach.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role in the health, community, or non-profit sectors with strategic and operational responsibilities. Proficient in managing diverse service portfolios, adhering to best practice and quality enhancement.
  • Skilled in operational leadership including financial management, business planning, and managing funding applications.
  • Demonstrated experience forging collaborative partnerships to progress organisational goals.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a multidisciplinary team including experience developing a positive workplace culture.
  • Outstanding communication skills including conflict management and influencing skills.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications including business, management, public policy, public health, or related field.
