Legacy Club Services (LCS) provides a suite of services that support participating Legacy clubs and their operations to provide quality services to their beneficiaries.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Legacy Advocate - Level 3 to join our Compensation Advocacy Team. This role is responsible for delivering professional advocacy services to our beneficiaries, including veterans’ families, Legatees, and other key stakeholders.

You will provide expert guidance, training, and representation on matters related to veterans’ entitlements, compensation claims, and appeals under various legislations, including the Veterans’ Entitlements Act (VEA), Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act (MRCA), and Defence-Related Claims Act (DRCA).

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Advocate on behalf of veterans and their families, providing guidance on entitlements and compensation claims.
  • Research medical and military history to establish links between service and health conditions.
  • Prepare and lodge compensation claims, appeals, and reconsiderations with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) and the Veterans’ Review Board (VRB).
  • Deliver training for nationally accredited Compensation and Wellbeing Advocates.
  • Liaise with government bodies, medical professionals, and external stakeholders to support claims.
  • Maintain accurate client records and provide regular updates in the CRM system.
  • Facilitate forums and online discussions to enhance awareness of veterans’ compensation matters.

Skills and Experience

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Compensation Advocate in veterans' compensation and military law
  • Accreditation as a Compensation Advocate Level 3 (MILADC003)
  • Experience working with, or an understanding of, Defence Force personnel and their families
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present in tribunals
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and online collaboration tools like Zoom or Teams
  • Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety principles
  • Compassionate, empathetic and patient

Highly Regarded:

  • Sound knowledge of the roles of Ex Service Organisations, Community Services and the Not-for-Profit sector
  • Experience working in or with the Australian Defence Force or an understanding of veterans' needs
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Experience in medical terminology and records management
  • Ability to utilise social media platforms for outreach and education
