About Us

The LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation (the Foundation) is a national charity powered by a passionate collective of volunteers, united in our mission to shine a light on an epidemic that has been devastating LGBTQ+ communities for far too long.

Our core objectives are:

  • Helping end domestic, family and intimate partner violence (DFV) in LGBTQ+ communities by increasing visibility through our annual awareness campaign.
  • Advocating for and supporting the empowerment of LGBTQ+ victims and survivors of DFV.
  • Collaborating with other organisations to reduce barriers to reporting violence, accessing services and creating safe, inclusive support pathways.
  • Providing targeted educational resources—like our See, Hear, Believe online training—to equip workplaces, schools and communities with the knowledge to respond effectively to DFV in LGBTQ+ relationships.

About the Role

As a volunteer Fundraising Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in supporting the financial sustainability and impact of our work. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about LGBTQ+ rights and domestic violence prevention and wants to help us grow our fundraising capacity in creative, meaningful ways.

This is a volunteer (non-remunerated) role that requires a time commitment of approximately 4–6 hours per month, depending on campaign cycles.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the planning, coordination and delivery of fundraising campaigns and events (such as Light Up the Night Gala).
  • Building and maintaining relationships with supporters, community partners, donors and sponsors.
  • Helping identify new fundraising opportunities, including corporate partnerships, workplace giving programs, grants, and peer-to-peer campaigns.
  • Contributing ideas to improve supporter engagement and grow our donor base.
  • Supporting the development of donor communication materials and tracking fundraising outcomes.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about LGBTQ+ communities and ending domestic and family violence.
  • A strong communicator who enjoys working with people and building relationships.
  • Confident using email and basic online tools (e.g. spreadsheets, fundraising platforms).
  • Creative, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Willing to undergo a national police check.
  • Able to commit to a volunteer term of 12 months or more (ideally 3 years).
  • This role can be undertaken from anywhere in Australia.

Previous fundraising experience is great, but not essential. We welcome people who are keen to learn and grow in the role, with support from the Foundation.

Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity is at the heart of what we do. We strongly encourage expressions of interest from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people; people who are trans and/or gender diverse; intersex people; people with disability; those living in regional or remote areas; and people from culturally, linguistically and religiously diverse communities.

Everyone deserves to live free from violence and abuse and we need your help to make that a reality.

Apply Now

If you’re ready to help us build a safer, more inclusive future, we’d love to hear from you.

Together, we can help LGBTQ+ survivors be seen, heard and believed.

We look forward to hearing from you!
