Liberty Foundation Australia (LFA) is seeking dedicated volunteer Board members to help us build the capacity of the organisation and scale up our rehoming activities.

We are seeking candidates with relevant experience in animal welfare and rehoming, or other not-for-profit sectors. Our priority need is for individuals with skills and expertise in financial and risk management, grant administration, project management, and governance and reporting.

We are also interested in hearing from anyone who has other skills or experience that may be relevant to our work.

This is a remote volunteer director role for a maximum term of five years, with monthly Board meetings held online. Directors have the opportunity to be involved in delivering a significant program of work over the next two years.

About us

LFA is a company limited by guarantee operating as a not-for-profit, and is a registered charity, based on the Central Coast of NSW. The organisation works with research establishments to rehome animals used in science and research.

Since 2017, we have rehomed hundreds of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, and fish. Our mission is to provide loving, safe forever homes for all domestic species from research.

As a volunteer-run organisation, LFA works with passionate and generous individuals who share our values of compassion, hope, freedom, inclusivity and care for animals.

Selection criteria

  • Experience working or demonstrated understanding of the not-for-profit sector and volunteer-run organisations
  • Understanding of governance, risk management and compliance
  • Understanding of financial management and grant administration; and/or broader animal welfare experience
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically
  • Willingness to commit time the Board and the organisation
  • Alignment with LFA's vision and values.
