About us – Brief
LID Consulting is an established built environment sustainability and waste consultancy based in Melbourne (but consulting Australia-wide) who require the contract services of a committed specialist waste professional.
Waste management and minimisation plans are required for the operation of the future finished development, and also to minimise waste and raise the level of recycling during the demolition and construction stage of the building process.
While this role is a subset of the development approval process, completing waste management and minimisation plans delivers a mini design solution providing definite challenges and interest for the contractor.
Occasionally strategies and plans are required for better waste management in existing organisations, which may require further research, stakeholder engagement and report delivery.
About the role:
- Leading and Delivering Waste Management Strategies: you will be responsible for leading and delivering waste management strategies, predominantly for new built environment development proposals, that meet development client and council approval.
- Preparing Waste Management Plans: The strategies are documented in a waste management plan. These plans are required for all development types: multi-dwelling residential, mixed use, commercial, retail, hospitality, tourism, industrial, education, childcare, aged care, health, community and built environment sectors.
- Submission of Reports: Each project reviews local council and state government waste requirements, potential design and process solutions, considers whether development design changes are required, seeks client feedback and sign-off, and then submits a report for town planning or state government approval.
- Liaising with Stakeholders: As part of the development approval process you will liaise with Council, architects, town planners and/or developer clients.
- Relationship Management: In all cases maintaining good relationships with all stakeholders through the quality of delivered outcomes, effective communication and a friendly demeanour, is a key aspect of the role.
Contract Role: The role is contract so allows maximum flexibility.
The nature of the role is as follows:
- Engagement is on a report by report basis,
- Jobs routinely take from 4 to 6 hours to complete, and ideally should be completed within one week.
- Occasionally on more complex projects more time is required, but this will be spread over longer periods and will rarely require more than 4 to 6 hours per project on any given week.
- We would envisage the successful candidate undertaking multiple projects per week as required.
- Jobs can be completed from home (no requirement for on-site attendance), with communication with existing team members generally via video conferencing or face to face in-office contact (we are In the Melbourne CBD). Investigative and documentation work can be completed at a time to suit the candidate within the project delivery period.
- You will be trained, and supervised, with constructive feedback provided.
- You will require an ABN.
As a waste professional you will be expected to have an interest in and follow waste industry developments, share the latest council requirements/guidelines learnings with the non-waste specialist ESD consultants in our business and update in-house team reference documents.
