About the role

We are looking for a flexible and enthusiastic Developmental Educator with experience in the disability sector to work in our growing Clinical team in the child youth and family space in Unley, Adelaide. The Developmental Educator will work in a multidisciplinary team alongside psychologists and clinicians.
 
As the Developmental Educator, you are responsible for making significant contribution to enhancing the lives of individuals living with a disability. You will promote and encourage skill development, independence and quality of life for people living with a disability.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement innovative approaches based on current practices in the field of Developmental Education to assist with complex behaviour support, whilst supporting the clinical team.
  • Champion the use of person-centred tools in problem solving and embrace the organisational strategies in service development.
  • Deliver professional support, training and consultancy to Support Workers and/or family members as required.
  • Work as part of a team to provide a range of therapy and intervention services to people living with disabilities and their families/carers with a focus on emotional wellbeing and independence. 

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor of Disability and Developmental Education (or equivalent)
  • Full membership of the Developmental Educators Australia Incorporated (DEAI)
  • Current and unrestricted Drivers Licence
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Demonstrated relevant experience working with people living with a disability and their support networks
  • Comprehensive knowledge about challenging behaviour and complex needs
  • A sound understanding of person-centred thinking, the principles of NDIS and the National Disability Service Standards
  • High level knowledge of relevant community networks and mainstream services

Successful candidates will be required to undertake probity checks including a National Criminal History Record Check, Child Related Employment Screening and NDIS Worker Screening.
