About the role

Due to growth in our Disability program we are looking for 2 additional Team Leaders in our NDIS programs in the South East of Melbourne. (Cheltenham and Frankston).

Each team leader will oversee one house each and approximately 10-13 staff, including casuals. Both roles will have an ‘on call’ function which will be on a rotating roster with the other managers. The role is Monday to Friday, office hours and will be a mix of working in the house and supervising staff, and managing the administrative functions associated with this role.

Experience in a similar role will be essential due to the high support needs of the clients. 

The Team Leader needs to demonstrate organisational and leadership skills in the coordination of services to assist people with a disability. The position is focused upon ensuring that the individual needs of people with a disability are met, with a strong focus on delivering culturally responsive care, whilst maintaining an efficient and safe working environment for staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partnering with people with a disability and their family and community to achieve individual goals
  • Partner with people with a disability to ensure they receive a high level of culturally responsive care that meets their individual needs
  • Monitor the coordination and development of assessments, plans and services for people with a disability as per LWB policy.
  • Manage and ensure quality and compliant service provision across NDIS programs including the development of new programs
  • Coach, mentor and supervise a team of support workers to ensure they deliver culturally responsive active support to people with a disability
  • Model appropriate conflict resolution, communication and positive behaviour management skills.
  • Plan and facilitate regular and effective team meetings and professional development opportunities. 

Skills & Experience

  • Territory qualifications in relevant Social & Community Services sector
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • First Aid Certificate (to be determined on a case by case basis).
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a leadership/management role in a human services organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of services to people with a disability, providing a professional and positive outlook and commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities and personal goals of people with disabilities.
  • Strong written and computer skills for the creation of plans, programs, reports, correspondence and other documents.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
