Board Directors x2 (Voluntary) - Flexible Location

Lirata Ltd

Lirata Ltd (www.lirata.com) is an independent not-for-profit organisation based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia.

We are a ‘social justice multiplier’, magnifying the efforts of the many organisations and individuals working for positive change.

We are a Social Traders certified social enterprise, delivering work through consultancy, capacity building and systems advocacy. Each year we work on 25+ social impact projects across Australia, assisting governments and social purpose organisations to plan, review, evaluate and further develop their work, to create positive outcomes for communities.

Lirata was established in 2010 and incorporated in its current not-for-profit structure in 2016. Lirata currently has five Board Directors (www.lirata.com/about/team).

As we embark on an exciting growth phase, Lirata is seeking two new Board Directors - who are committed to delivering positive, effective social change - to join our Board.

Applicants are invited from all over Australia.

Key responsibilities

Board Directors collectively oversee the operation of Lirata, ensuring the provision of effective, high quality and innovative work for social justice. The Board is focused on strategy and impact rather than operational decision-making. Board Directors assist Lirata to steer and grow its social enterprise to ensure that it is financially sound and achieving its intended impacts for our partner organisations.

Board Directors have a range of legal and governance responsibilities, including:

  • Overseeing development of the strategic plan
  • Approving the annual budget and monitoring Lirata’s performance
  • Supporting and appraising the CEO
  • Contributing to Board decision-making and development.

The Board has formal online meetings seven times per year, for 2 hours per meeting, plus occasional additional meetings and planning days as required. Some Board activity also occurs electronically between meetings.
