Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney (H2HS) is one of over 40 Lifeline centres nationally, providing Australians with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. Our strength lies in our community footprint, as we deliver vital programs and outreach initiatives to build local and lasting capacity for suicide prevention through connection, compassion, and hope.

The People and Culture Manager role focuses on enhancing workforce experience and organisational culture through best-practice policies, programs, and strategies for onboarding, engagement, development, and retention. The role also involves driving learning and development initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory changes, and providing strategic advice to maximise engagement, performance, and retention while minimising risk.

Key responsibilities are as follows but are not limited to:

  • Coach & Support Managers
    • Assist managers with recruitment efforts, including establishing and conducting orientation and training programs across the organisation
    • Identify and recommend improvements to internal standard operating procedures, including team and morale building
    • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human-resources policies and procedures
  • Facilitate engaging and compliant HR
    • including overseeing and refining policies and procedures, using existing HR systems as well as improving or recommending new processes
    • Maintain and enhance employee benefits programs, including service and other recognition programs
    • Ensure compliance with national and local HR regulations by conducting investigations and maintaining records

Essential Criteria

  • A tertiary qualification in Business Management, HR, or other relevant qualification or experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role with demonstrated human resources skills
  • Flexible and hands-on approach with proven ability to work in a team and a proven ability to work with competing deadlines and priorities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and an ethical mindset
  • Understanding of IT systems in a medium-sized office

  • Previous experience working with Not For Profits
  • Previous experience working with volunteers
