Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation (LNAC) is the peak advocacy and service organisation for the Larrakia people, the Traditional Owners of the Greater Darwin region. Established in 1998 to represent Larrakia Native Title interests, LNAC has since grown into a key provider of programs and services that address the cultural, social, and economic aspirations of the Larrakia people and the broader Aboriginal community.
As a not-for-profit organisation, LNAC primarily receives operational funding from the Northern Territory and Commonwealth Governments.

Position Objective
The Human Resources Manager will lead the development and delivery of high-quality HR services that support LNACs strategic goals and promote a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment. This role ensures the implementation of best practice human resource strategies that enhance staff performance, engagement, and wellbeing. The HR Manager works closely with the CEO and senior management to build a strong organisational culture and workforce capability aligned with LNACs values and vision.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic HR leadership to support organisational development and staff satisfaction.
- Lead the development, implementation, and review of HR policies, procedures, and systems in consultation with the CEO.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes, including employment contracts and alignment with organisational values and goals.
- Collaborate with senior management in industrial and employee relations, including negotiation of employment conditions and remuneration with unions and staff.
- Support strategic workforce planning and participate as a key member of the Senior Management Team.
- Design and manage performance management systems and guide managers in staff appraisal processes.
- Identify, coordinate, and evaluate professional development and training initiatives based on staff and organisational needs.
- Provide guidance to managers and staff on human resource, industrial relations, and conflict resolution matters.
- Support employee wellbeing and engagement, including aiding staff and families when required.
- Oversee Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices, ensuring compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records and ensure the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) is up to date.
- Maintain up-to-date organisational charts, position descriptions, and policy documentation.
- Represent the organisation at relevant meetings, seminars, and events to advocate for LNACs interests and strengthen HR networks.
- Uphold respect for Larrakia people, culture, and country in all aspects of the role.
- Undertake other duties as directed by the CEO, in line with the employees’ skills and experience.
Selection Criteria (Essential):
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management, Employee Relations or a related field, or extensive equivalent experience (minimum 10 years).
- A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience preparing high-quality written and verbal communications, including contracts, reports, and HR policies.
- Strong organisational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex issues.
- Proven experience in end-to-end recruitment processes.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal cultures and the social and employment challenges facing Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MYOB, and HR database systems.
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying awards, enterprise agreements, and employment legislation.
- Demonstrated experience in on-boarding HRIS systems.
Desirable:
- Identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
- Experience in leading change management and organisational transformation initiatives.

- Appointment is subject to a satisfactory National Police Clearance and Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
