Looking for an opportunity to contribute to a more just and equitable future for children and their families?
Seeking to engage in a deep professional learning encounter with Australia's first peoples?
The Coordinator (Area Manager) role offers an extraordinary, career-defining, opportunity to work alongside First Nations children, families and educators in Central Australia's remote communities. Supported by a dynamic team, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Team Leaders, local educators and communities to provide responsively, high quality and innovative care and education for children from birth - school age.
MRC was established in 2008 and its area covers our 13 major remote communities as well as many outstations. MRC employs over 500 staff, 370 of whom are the local Aboriginal staff.
MRC's vision is "many voices, one dream, building a quality desert lifestyle" and our mission is "to improve the lives of Council residents by delivering valued and relevant services".
As a Coordinator Children Services, overseeing up to 5 small Early Learning Centres, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective running of our Early Learning Centres by leading, coaching and supporting our Team leaders to drive performance and quality within our Centres. With direct accountability to the MacKids Manager, the coordinator in conjunction with team leaders will implement the expectation of the NQF in culturally relevant and responsive ways that maximise the learning outcome for children birth to school age.
Staff choose to work here because of their commitment to advancing the lives of our residents - Australia's First Peoples. Staff are rewarded with diverse and challenging work that supports career growth.
Our centres are located on small remote communities varying from 100 - 650Kms (travel on mainly dirt roads) from Alice Springs. The experience of living and working in a remote Aboriginal community is both privilege and a great learning opportunity as you immerse yourself in a world that most Australians will never experience, however, it can be a demanding career and life choice. Usually our staff spend their spare time exploring the beautiful desert surroundings and take advantage of the adventure offered when living in a remote location. It is important to develop hobbies and to plan activities. Most importantly, the demands of the job should not be underplayed. You will have good days and bad, but each day is a new day with a new set of challenges.
Under MacDonnell Regional Council's Special Measures Scheme, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for this position and will be preferenced in the selection process if they meet all the essential selection criteria and are suitable at the position level.
This is an incredible opportunity to live and work in Central Australia. For further information contact
