Join the MacDonnell Regional Council (MRC) and immerse yourself in the heart of Australia!
Our region, stretching across 270,000 square kilometers, is a tapestry of breathtaking waterholes, vibrant flora and fauna, and the striking red desert sands. With a population spread across 13 communities, MRC is a place where you'll be part of a team deeply rooted in Aboriginal culture—78% of our workforce are Aboriginal, and a respectful understanding of cultural sensitivities is key.
In the role of Plant Operator, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining and operating essential machinery like wheel loaders, excavators, graders, backhoes, skid steers, and trucks. Your skills will ensure the smooth running of civil construction projects and upkeep of MRC assets, including waste management facilities, road networks, parks, and open spaces. This is your chance to make a real difference in our community while advancing your career and helping local people develop their skills.
You'll be based in Alice Springs but will frequently travel to various communities across the MacDonnell Region. We offer a permanent, full-time position with a starting annual salary of $67,712, which is negotiable based on your qualifications and experience. On top of that, you'll receive 11.5% superannuation, 17.5% leave loading on 6 weeks of annual leave, and have the option for salary sacrificing.
To succeed in this role, you'll need relevant and current plant and equipment tickets, including a white card and ideally a Heavy Combination Driver's License (or Multi Combination). With at least 2 years of experience operating similar machinery, you should bring strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to generate accurate reports.
We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply and may prioritise applications under our Special Measures Policy.
