This is a Permanent Part-time (22.8hours per week – 0.6 EFT) opportunity based in Lismore, NSW within our Property Team/Corporate Services Program.

Position Purpose:

This position is situated within the Property Team of the Finance and Business Services Unit with the operational context of the position based in Lismore / Northern NSW. The Finance and Business Services Unit manages all financial, legal, compliance, insurance, property, fleet and information communication technology services for the organisation.

The Maintenance Officer will report to the Property Coordinator NSW and work with relevant District and House Managers daily. The position will assist in the management of the ongoing maintenance of the MacKillop infrastructure located in the Lismore / Northern NSW Areas.

Primary Objectives:

  • Properties: To assist the area and house managers in the day-to-day maintenance of rural properties located in Dunoon and The Channon and other Northern NSW properties owned by MacKillop.
  • Maintenance: To effectively manage and action all grounds, garden, and responsive maintenance requests daily.
  • Contractors: To assist the property team and relevant District and House Managers with the management of external contractors as required.
  • Teamwork: To provide support to the Property Coordinator and District and House Managers in the effective maintenance of Mackillop infrastructure as required.
  • Properties: All MacKillop Infrastructure located in Northern NSW but particularly, 24 James Street Dunoon and 133 The Channon Road, The Channon. Key result areas and responsibilities.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families
  • Experience in maintenance and using equipment for maintaining and repairing rural grounds, structural and related facilities.
  • The operation of and minor maintenance of a variety of hand and power tools and light equipment.
  • Basic principles and practices of resource management.
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision or direction.
