About you
You are a passionate wordsmith, you are driven by your ethics, social concerns and dedication. As a writer at Marlin Communications, you’ll craft authentic, persuasive, and inspiring copy for charities, causes and not-for-profit organisations. Your words will inspire everyday Australians to change the world around them.
Purpose of the position
- Concise, clear and kind communicator to both internal teams at Marlin and our charity client partners
- Organised, have strong attention to detail and display initiative
- Demonstrate curiosity for the work of our client partners and for the effectiveness of the work Marlin creates for them
- Collaborate with creative team colleagues including graphic designers, to develop concepts that frame an offer to persuade someone to give
- Create copy for our clients’ communications that balances brand and fundraising requirements
- Deliver excellent supporter experiences using personalised channels such as social media, email, websites, SMS, and direct mail
- Communications that are effective at moving people to act in range of ways
Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience writing and editing copy for a strong brand
- A diverse portfolio of copy examples including web, print, advertising, email, and social
- Proven expertise writing both engaging short and long-form copy
- An ability to adapt copy voice & tone to align with various audiences
- Incredible attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Excellent grammar skills and ability to proofread your own work
- A sense of humour
Key responsibilities & duties
- Respond to written briefs to create compelling narratives and authentic stories;
- Work to a demanding schedule as required to ensure charities connect with their audiences in timely manner;
- Work to multiple deadlines while consistently producing work of the highest standard;
- Interview and engage with people across a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds to develop story content
- Research, investigate and gather complex information for the purpose of writing simplified, engaging copy.
- Copywriting support for Marlin’s internal marketing activities.
- Checking for technical consistency and correct errors in grammar, spelling, syntax, and punctuation.
