Join the Vaccine Challenges team within the Tropical Diseases research group, where we’re dedicated to tackling diseases caused by Streptococcus pyogenes (Strep A). Our multidisciplinary approach combines both laboratory and clinical research to develop new diagnostic, treatment, and control strategies. We’re also focused on deepening our understanding of Strep A’s immunology and epidemiology, especially its impact in Australia and developing countries. In collaboration with national and international partners, the team is working towards developing a global Strep A vaccine.
This role includes in-depth microbiological and immunological research and will be under the guidance of the Vaccine Challenges Team Leader, Lab Lead, and Senior Project Coordinator. You'll receive hands-on training and work closely with the Tropical Diseases laboratory team to drive forward innovative lab-based research. Key projects include developing and using a controlled human infection model for Strep A pharyngitis, and using this and other clinical samples to investigate vaccine- and infection-induced immunity (both systemic and mucosal) against Strep A.
