THE ROLE

As an experienced oncology nurse, the Melanoma Telehealth Nurse works closely with the Melanoma Telehealth Nurse Manager and the Melanoma Patients Australia team to provide high-quality telehealth support to melanoma patients, their careers, and families through phone and video consultations.

Operating autonomously and without in person supervision from your own home, this role involves delivering evidence-based information, education, and support throughout the optimal care pathway. The nurse will facilitate internal and external referrals, effectively communicate between tertiary and primary care clinicians to ensure the best patient outcomes and conduct individual and group support sessions.

Additional responsibilities include contributing to educational resources, maintaining accurate records and data, promoting services, and participating in organisational programs, projects, and quality assurance practices.

Please note: This role does not involve providing medical treatment, clinical advice, or formal counselling.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Term: Full Time (While this role is advertised as full time we are open to considering part time options for suitable candidates)

Hours Per Week: Up to 1 FTE - 38 hours per week, Fixed term until 30 June 2027

Expected Commencement Date: 5th May 2025 or earlier by mutual agreement.

Hourly Rate / Salary: RN Level 3 - $39.59 - $41.75 based on skills and demonstrated experience

This is a fully remote work from home role. Applicants must have appropriate facilities in their home location (dedicated private physical work area, furniture and stable telecommunications/technology is essential) to enable working from home.

Provision of a standard issue windows PC laptop, monitor, keyboard and mouse will be provided for the successful candidate.

Occasional national travel may be required to fulfil organisational representation or professional development requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Registered Nurse
  • Graduate Certificate in Oncology
  • 5 years minimum experience in a clinical setting
  • At least 2 years’ recent experience in Oncology Nursing
  • At least 12 months recent experience providing telehealth services
  • Experience and knowledge of survivorship principles
  • Ability to understand personal client journey, in the absence of access to medical history.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously unsupervised whilst understanding scope and escalation logic.
  • Experience working on-line / video and telephone with proficiency in Microsoft Office including teams, and confidence utilising client relationship management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, superior listening abilities
  • Experience with working in a periodic pressure environment, with ability to prioritise important and urgent matters.
  • Proven Self-discipline and motivated tendencies
