Community Team 1 (CT1) provide care to consumers living in the CBD and the Inner West of Melbourne. Additionally, they hold the homeless portfolio for Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Service (RMH MHS). CT1 applies an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model of care, which is characterised by lower caseloads, community-based treatment (outreach) a team-based approach and high intensity of care. This can involve medication management, psychosocial support, assessment and referral (housing, financial, vocation, increasing levels of participation), psychological assessment, formulation and interventions, crisis assessments and admissions.

We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist (P2) prepared for this unique opportunity to work with complex consumers in a supportive team environment and to make a difference for some of the more vulnerable consumers in our community.

Your new role:

  • Apply your experience and skills in the delivery of evidence-based treatment and interventions, ensuring the provision of high-quality assertive outreach and care coordination of services to adults experiencing mental health and AOD issues as well as homelessness.
  • Work with a team of enthusiastic multi-disciplined professionals providing high-quality care to some of Melbourne’s most marginalised people.

  • Manage a reasonable caseload that allows you to do therapeutic work and develop thoughtful, evidence-based recovery, treatment and management plans.
  • Apply sound treatment skills for people with severe and enduring mental health conditions, and have willingness and capacity to commit to development of EB knowledge and practice.

About you:

  • Interested in working with homeless consumers directly in the community.
  • Possess formal qualifications and registration as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Enjoy working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of effective evidence-based interventions appropriate to low prevalence disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorder, relapse prevention and substance abuse.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the capacity and willingness to further develop professionally in your career and contribute to community mental health.
  • Demonstrate at least 2 years of experience in the provision of specialist services in public mental health settings with a strong focus on local communities and inter-agency specific knowledge.
