A little bit about the position

MercyCare is seeking experienced Case Workers for the Reconnect Program within our Youth and Homelessness department. We have full time and part time position (38 hours per fortnight) available until June 2021 with a view to extend based on funding.

As a Case Worker for the Reconnect Program, you will provide an outreach service to young people aged 12-18 years and their family, which includes counselling, mediation, advocacy and practical support. The successful applicant will maintain a caseload of clients, participating in the referral intake process and ensuring person-centred, client-driven principles are integrated as part of case plans. You will provide both one on one support and group activities, maintaining accurate and comprehensive records and participating in events relevant to community needs.

Minimum requirements

To be considered for this role, you will have relevant qualifications in Human Services and demonstrated experience working with complex young people and their families.

You will also have:

  • Understanding of evidence-based service models for working with young people and families
  • Experience and knowledge working from a trauma-informed approach
  • Knowledge of issues presented by homeless youth, those at risk of homelessness and their families
  • Experience in casework practice within the community sector
  • Working with Children Check
  • Driver’s Licence
  • National Police Clearance (obtained within the last 6 months)
