About the opportunity:

  • Provide residents with emotional, spiritual, and psychological support, helping them cope with aging, loss, and health changes.
  • Act as a compassionate listener for residents, offering counselling and comfort during times of distress, loneliness, or grief.
  • Organise and lead religious services, prayers, or rituals tailored to residents' spiritual needs, respecting their diverse beliefs.
  • Support residents and their families during end-of-life care, offering comfort, counselling, and spiritual care at this difficult time.
  • Work alongside other health care staff (nurses, doctors, social workers) to provide holistic care to residents.
  • Facilitate access to sacraments such as Holy Communion, Reconciliation, and Anointing of the Sick, ensuring residents can practice their faith regularly.

What you'll bring:

You're resilient, compassionate and have a whole lot of heart. Most importantly, you are committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • At least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education or other relevant qualification. Theological and/or other relevant graduate qualifications. Proficient computer skills.
  • Training in pastoral care, counselling, or spiritual guidance is important to offer residents adequate emotional and spiritual support.
  • Sensitivity to residents' diverse cultural backgrounds and spiritual beliefs to ensure inclusive care.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • Police check or NDIS clearance
  • Valid work rights
