We are seeking a dynamic manager to lead the committed and skilled Merri Health Victims Assistance Program across the Northern Metropolitan and Hume Regions. VAP is funded by the Department of Justice and Community Safety. The role is full time with the primary location of Preston with intermittent travel to Hume Region.

Your new role

As the Manager of the Victims Assistance Program you will be responsible for:

  • Providing strategic and operational leadership and direction (including understanding of external trends) across VAP.
  • Implementing evidence based, innovative and improved service delivery methods in consultation with key stakeholders and based on community/client demand.
  • Promoting a client centered and integrated approach to service development and implementation.
  • Engaging effectively with key stakeholders including DJCS, Victoria Police and the Family Violence Sector.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful with Merri you will go above and beyond to achieve great results for our clients, the organisation and yourself. We’re looking for individuals with:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of people who have been affected by violent crime
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, developing, implementing and evaluating programs such as VAP, counselling, family violence programs etc, with a minimum of three years’ experience.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policy, legislative and regulatory requirements that underpin the VAP services.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Capacity to work creatively and independently, demonstrate initiative and actively develop a supportive team environment.
  • The ability to travel intermittently to Hume region
