About the Role

The purpose of this role is to provide clinical expertise and consultancy through advanced clinical leadership relevant to the speciality of advance care planning. The role of the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Advance Care Planning- Consumer Liaison is to provide clinical expertise in advance care planning, with a focus on working with and for consumers. The CNC works in collaboration with the Nurse Educator and wider ACPA team to support the provision of expert advice, information, and support in the specialty of advance care planning.

The CNC Consumer Liaison is accountable for the design, implementation, and support of the ACPA Consumer Advisory Group. In addition, the role provides clinical advance care planning subject matter expertise to the National Advisory Line.

Advance Care Planning Australia partners with consumers to inform quality consumer information resources. Where possible, consumers with relevant lived experience are involved in the development of the consumer information publications.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant Liaison will:

  • Lead the establishment and maintenance of the ACPA Consumer Advisory Group
  • Provide clinical expertise and advice to consumers and other callers to the National Advisory Line as required
  • Lead the review and development of advance care planning consumer resources, including working collaboratively with consumers
  • Provide advanced clinical leadership relevant to the speciality of advance care planning
  • Coordinate collection and analysis of data related to ACPA consumer-focused activities
  • Provide education for consumers across the nation in line with the ACPA Activity Work Plan
  • Promote innovation specific to healthcare trends related to ACP, and to promote patient and service outcomes within the scope of the position.
