Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation (MHAC) is seeking a dedicated Child and Adolescent Health Nurse to lead the development and delivery of high-quality, culturally appropriate health services for children and adolescents (aged 0-17 years) across East Arnhem Land, with a primary focus on Zone 2 communities (Galiwin'ku, Gapuwiyak, Milingimbi, Ramingining)

In this role, you will provide strategic direction, clinical governance, and program support to ensure the safety and effectiveness of child and adolescent health services within Miwatj’s Primary Health Care sector. You will work closely with Aboriginal Health Practitioners, Community Workers, and remote PHC teams to strengthen child and adolescent health programs.

This position requires regular travel by 4WD or light aircraft for up to five days at a time within the Miwatj Region.

  • Competitive salary of $131,379 - $137,268 per annum + 11.5% superannuation

About Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation

Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations.

Essential Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and self-determination, along with an awareness of the challenges faced by Yolngu people in remote communities.
  • A minimum of five years of broad nursing experience post-registration is required, with relevant tertiary or post-graduate qualifications in Paediatrics or Child/Adolescent Health.
  • The candidate must hold a current NT Working with Children’s Check (Ochre Card) and an NT-recognised Immunisation Provider Certificate (SA DoH certificate).
  • Demonstrated experience in developing continuous quality improvement programs within Primary Health Care, along with knowledge of Indigenous health, culture, and social determinants of health in remote settings, is essential.
  • A strong commitment to teamwork, knowledge-sharing, and regular travel to remote areas by 4WD or light aircraft is also required.
