Established in 1999, the Migrant Information Centre (Eastern Melbourne) (MIC) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing essential services to support individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in the Eastern Region of Melbourne.

Our comprehensive range of services includes:

  • Settlement casework for newly arrived refugees and family stream migrants with low English proficiency.
  • Community development programs for refugee community groups.
  • Support for refugee and migrant community associations.
  • Assistance in accessing aged care and disability services.
  • Volunteer support programs.
  • Family violence and sexual violence support and counselling.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from individuals to join our Board of Directors.

We are looking to recruit three new directors with the following expertise:

1. Human Resources/Industrial Relations:

  • An individual with skills and experience in workforce strategy, recruitment, employee relations, organisational development, and HR governance2

2. Fundraising:

  • Expertise in fundraising strategy, grant writing, corporate partnerships, or donor engagement to help drive financial sustainability.

3. Risk Management:

  • Experience in identifying, assessing, and managing risks within not-for-profits, compliance and organisational governance.

Desired Attributes

The ideal candidates will:

  • Be familiar with the community service sector.
  • Have lived or living experience, or experience in providing services to people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds•Be able to commit to attending monthly board meetings, with a mix of online and face to face meetings.
  • Be willing to assist with sub-committee work.
