Summary of the role
This position will have responsibility for managing and delivering the MIC Aged and Disability Services This position will provide program planning, oversight of service delivery and reporting, staff management and supervision, stakeholder engagement and networking support for the MIC Aged and Disability Services, as well as providing support and oversight for grant writing strategy as directed by the CEO.
Key responsibilities
Program Planning
- The role will work with the CEO to ensure the Aged and Disability Program has a clear operational annual plan that meets the service agreement deliverables and targets for funding bodies. Key area of work will include the establishment of CHSP Social Support Group and expand the business model over the next three years
- Conduct planning meetings to ensure all staff understand the operational plan, team plans and individual target allocation
Service Delivery
- The role will provide day to day oversight and management of the program, which includes- monitoring the intake and allocations of new clients, oversight of staff caseloads including providing guidance to staff when working with clients presenting with challenging needs, approving any fund allocation. monitoring, oversight and liaising with external stakeholders, monitoring and oversight of reporting using government databases including claiming milestone payments, liaising with the funding body including attending regular meetings
Program Reporting and Data Management
- The role will ensure all staff understand the reporting requirements, collate all relevant client information, follow policies, undertake all data reporting requirements and prepare reports as directed by the CEO for the Board and relevant funding bodies.
Staff Management
- Oversee the staff recruitment, staff induction, staff supervision and performance planning as per the policy and directed by the CEO.
Budget Management
- Manage the budget of the operational cost and support the CEO to manage MIC finances prudently.
Stakeholder Engagement/ Promotion
- with the CEO and Team to attend all networks and key stakeholder meetings in the Aged and Disability Portfolio
- Work with the CEO on clear marketing and promotional plan for the Aged and Disability Program
- Ensure the website has all relevant information and support CEO with client feedback and complaints policy
Strategic Growth – Grants Program for the Aged and Disability Services
- Identify all the relevant grants opportunities for MIC and ensure the information is collated as per the agreed data management system
- Provide all program information of the relevant grant opportunities arising to discuss with the CEO
- Undertake only grants writing for programs or services related to the Aged and Disability Services or Community Events
- Keep track of all successful grants on data base and follow up all reporting requirements in consultation with the CEO
Key Selection Criteria
- 5 years’ experience managing and delivering CHSP programs and other Aged and Disability Services.
- Understanding of the Aged Care Reforms and good understanding of risk and compliance
- Proven ability in managing staff teams in community service organisations, including supporting staff to perform their roles to the best of their ability, conflict resolution and supporting staff to meet program milestones and targets.
- Previous experience overseeing community programs, including managing program timelines and budgets and reporting and liaising with funding bodies.
- Relevant community-based work experience with culturally, linguistically and/or religiously diverse communities.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data/information and make recommendations to support staff and improve access to services for clients, service delivery and coordination.
- Outstanding networking skills and experience building and maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders, including government and community organisations.
- Proven ability to identify service gaps and create strategic solutions.
- Excellent time management skills, and an ability to effectively prioritise tasks within tight timelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and communicate effectively with all stakeholders, especially diverse community members.
- Highly developed written skills, with the capacity to prepare timely reports or other materials for a variety of audiences, Proficient in written and spoken English and ability to manage public speaking.
- Ability to be self-directed, to use initiative to build emerging programs and to evaluate and monitor own performance, while also working well as part of a diverse team.
Desired Experience/Qualifications
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the Aged and Disability Services
- Qualifications in Social Work, Community Development, Social Science or equivalent (Bachelor or Masters)
- Experience writing grants for government and philanthropic funding.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills relevant to the local CALD communities residing in Eastern Melbourne.
- A current driver’s license.
