The role & you

This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for someone who is competent working autonomously, as well as being a collaborative leader who can seek out diverse ideas among others to build strategies and solve problems.

The Coordinator role sits within the Environmental Health and Regulatory Services department, leading the Ranger Section. Key responsibilities include managing the Ranger function and supervising a team of professionals to ensure the achievement of business outcomes.

Your expertise, resilience, positivity and highly developed communication and listening skills will be rewarded as you make a difference to both the community and the team you lead and support. 

Legislative knowledge and previous involvement with a broad range of stakeholders on matters such as Animal Control, Impounding and Parking enforcement, will be critical to your success.

This senior leadership position will drive fundamental change through the development of new and innovative ways to deliver a proactive, customer-centric approach to the provision of regulatory services. This will involve promoting initiatives and supporting multi-disciplinary teams through change processes to improve service delivery outcomes to our local community. 

Your positive approach towards managing change and ability to influence and develop relationships with key stakeholders using your well-developed interpersonal skills will be paramount. Essential requirements of the position

  • Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or equivalent
  • Comprehensive experience in a senior supervisory position, and demonstrated ability to lead and manage the performance of a team 
  • Extensive relevant experience in Local Government in Rangers or similar field
  • Experience in legal case presentation for court proceedings and appearing at court as an expert witness
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the professional and legislative requirements within the scope of the role 
  • Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Authorised Identified Status (or willingness to obtain)

Salary

Package is inclusive of:

  • Base salary $102,000 - $112,000 (commencing salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on qualifications, skills and experience)
  • Superannuation (11%)
  • Leaseback vehicle agreement 

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
