About the role

We are seeking a self-motivated and compassionate Allied Health Assistant for a fixed-term, part-time opportunity (15.2 hours per week) to join our Allied Health team in the Melbourne Metropolitan area.  Working remotely, you will play a vital role in supporting clients with ongoing needs, helping them achieve their identified goals through one-on-one support in their homes or the community. Working under the guidance of Allied Health Clinicians, including Occupational Therapists and Psychologists, you will deliver therapeutic supports aligned with each client’s therapy plan.

About the Service

The Allied Health service delivers a range of specialist supports and clinical services to help clients with complex mental health needs and dual disabilities achieve meaningful recovery outcomes. Through a multidisciplinary team, services include clinical assessments, psychological therapies, mental health counselling, NDIS planning, vocational assistance, and access to service provider networks. Support is provided via assertive outreach, telehealth, and one-to-one sessions, all within a person-centered, integrated stepped-care framework. These services empower clients, families, and carers to have choice and control over their recovery goals and services. 

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to identify their goals and needs, ensuring their voice is central to support planning, with a focus on independence and well-being.
  • Provide families and carers with information, education, and support to address their needs and foster a collaborative environment for the client.
  • Work with Allied Health Clinicians to develop a holistic understanding of clients’ needs, strengths, and risks, keeping their preferences and recovery goals at the forefront.
  • Co-create a shared, client-centred risk profile with Allied Health Clinicians, focusing on strengths, resilience, and tailored strategies to minimise risks, while empowering the client to actively engage in managing their support needs.
  • Proactively help clients overcome barriers to achieving their goals, supporting them in developing practical and sustainable solutions aligned with their recovery aspirations and values. 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Allied Health Assistance or other health-related field.
  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance is highly desirable.
  • Expertise providing person-centred active supports and working with people facing mental health challenges, complex needs, as well as interacting with families and carers.
  • Ability to plan, implement and prioritise to meet customer service delivery requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the NDIS, Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
