About the role

Headspace Box Hill is part of Victoria Operations Service Stream for Mind Australia which aims to promote and facilitate improvements in the mental health, social wellbeing and economic participation of young people aged 12-25 years residing in the Eastern Region of Melbourne. In this youth friendly space, services are delivered across four core streams – physical and sexual health, mental health, alcohol & other drugs (AOD), and work & study services.

We are seeking a self-motivated Allied Health Clinician – Family Specialist for a 12 month fixed term, part time (15.2 hours per week) opportunity in the Box Hill area. The Allied Health Clinician - Family Specialist will use their extensive experience to provide high quality, flexible therapeutic interventions, expert consultation & care coordination, and specialist knowledge to support young people and families with complex needs.

Key responsibilities

• Work with young people to enable them to live a meaningful life through supporting them through a staged approach to recovery
• Provide clinical services to young people and their families, with knowledge and skill appropriate to supporting complex presentations and support needs
• Development of risk assessment and safety planning with family inclusive approach
• Make linkages and build relationships and referral pathways to maintain or create a range of local supports
• Actively participate, contributing to your team and wider organisational initiatives. 

What you’ll bring

• Tertiary degree qualifications in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Social Work, Mental Health Occupational Therapy) along with current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) registration or membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
• Eligible for registration with Medicare as an approved provider of mental health items under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Medicare Benefits Schedule.
• Training and experience in family therapy clinical practice within the mental health field is highly desired.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team providing integrated care.
