About the role

headspace in partnership with Mind aims to promote and facilitate improvements in the mental health, social wellbeing and economic participation of young people aged 12-25 years residing in the Eastern suburbs. Services in this space are delivered across four core streams - primary health care, mental health, alcohol and other drug (AOD) and social/vocational to improve access for young people to mental health programs. 

We are seeking a self-motivated, compassionate Allied Health Clinician for a permanent, part time opportunity to work within a dynamic team in the Greensborough area. You will deliver transdisciplinary clinical services and evidence-based, time-limited psychological therapies within a responsive stepped care framework tailored to meet the needs of young people facing mental health challenges. In this role you will provide high-quality, flexible therapeutic interventions, offering expert consultation, and delivering specialist services such as capacity building for young people with complex needs. The successful candidate for this role must hold a Medicare provider number to enable bulk billing through mental health care plans. 

Key responsibilities

• Deliver flexible therapeutic support services including counselling, short to moderate intensity interventions, brief interventions and treatment planning in line with professional, ethical and National Standards.
• Provide high quality care coordination, advocacy, streamlined referrals, access to service networks, counselling, group work, and vocational and education support.
• Support young people with person-centred, recovery-orientated services to achieve care plan goals, foster independence, build capacity and improve quality of life.
• Support and engage family and carers, providing information, consultation, education and referrals.
• Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a coordinated and integrated response to the recovery goals of young people. 

What you’ll bring

• Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Social Work or Mental Health Occupational Therapy.
• Ability to obtain registration with AHPRA, AASW or equivalent accreditation and/or hold Mental Health Accreditation.
• Ability to bulk bill from the Medicare scheme via mental health care plans.
• Expertise in working with young people with mental health issues, AOD, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
