About the role

The Information Services vision is to provide reliable, cost effective and secure technologies and support services that enables Mind’s staff to professionally engage with, and support, our clients. The Information Services function provides Executive and Operational Management with technology strategic direction and investment options that underpin the achievement of the Mind Strategic Plan. The operational goals of the Information Services function are to professionally engage with all stakeholders, deliver technology platforms and services that are fit for purpose, cost effective and secure as well as achieve agreed service levels. The Information Services staff will always place a priority on teamwork and customer focus when pursuing these objectives. The Information Services function applies good governance methodologies to everything they do.

We are seeking a dynamic, high-performing Information Services Business Application Lead for a permanent, full-time opportunity at our Central Office in the Burnley area. You will provide technical expertise in database administration (DBA) for on-premises and Azure databases, manage upgrades and enhancements to business applications. The role will also be responsible for the development and management of relationships and contracts with key technology vendors so that technology applications and services are fit for purpose, cost effective and secure.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the support, maintenance and upgrade of the organisation's line-of-business applications, including ERP, CRM, HRIS, L&D systems (both on-premise and cloud), ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Provide expert-level database administration (DBA) skills for on-premise and Azure databases, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery. .
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for data warehouse technologies and practices, supporting the design, development, and maintenance of data warehouse solutions to meet reporting and analytics needs.
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of new business applications and technologies, conducting thorough assessments of vendor solutions and participating in the procurement process as needed.
  • Lead and mentor a team of business application support specialists, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the team's effectiveness and professional growth.
  • Assist in providing Mind Executive and Management with technology through leadership in order to ensure that strategic planning is well informed and that resultant initiatives are managed as a portfolio of investments.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support the business application support function and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Manage Mind's technology assets and system controls to ensure that the organisation meets regulatory and legislative compliance requirements.

What you’ll bring

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in computer science, information technology, business, or a related field.
  • Experience working in the technologies that Mind has invested in with a particular focus on the Microsoft on-premises and cloud platforms that form the basis of its technology strategic direction.
  • Preferred certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
  • Strong technical skills in database administration, including experience with SQL Server, MySQL, and Azure SQL Database.Knowledge of data warehouse concepts and technologies, with experience in designing, developing, and maintaining data warehouse solutions.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage upgrades and enhancements to business applications, with a focus on minimising disruption and maximising efficiency
