It’s an approach to mental health and wellbeing that looks at the whole person in the context of their daily life. Mind is committed to diversity and social inclusion.

About the role

Youth Step Up Step Down (YSUSD) is a short term residential mental health recovery service delivered in partnership with the local health service. YSUSD supports young people aged 16-21 years who are experiencing mental health challenges by providing intensive individual and group based support promoting resilience, social connection, self-care and wellbeing. YSUSD offer ‘a step up’ in mental health support for young people who may otherwise be admitted to hospital or a ‘step down’ in support to help them transition back to living in the community following a mental health related hospital stay. Each young person takes an active role in planning their own mental health recovery and the YSUSD team works with each young person’s family, friends, carers and other important people in their lives (including elders, case managers, schools) as appropriate.

We are seeking self-motivated, empathetic Community Mental Health Practitioners eager to make a difference in young people’s lives for casual opportunities to work in the Caboolture area. You will provide person-centred, recovery-orientated support to young people to achieve their recovery goals, build capacity to live safely in the community, strengthen social connections, establish daily routines and practice daily living skills.  You must be able to work a 24/7 rotating roster including sleepover shifts, night shifts and weekends.
