About the role

The Psychosocial Residential Rehabilitation (PRR) service is a long term residential rehabilitation program designed for people aged between 18-64 years living with severe and enduring psychosocial disability which has impacted their ability to live independently in the community. Funded through a client’s NDIS package, SIL residences are typically staffed 24/7 and offer a peer recovery environment to encourage sharing and connection. The service works collaboratively with clients providing one-on-one support, shared supports and group activities based on identified strengths and goals to better understand and develop strategies to manage their mental ill health, enhance personal and daily living skills, develop service provider networks, grow social and community connections, strengthen relationships with families and carers, and build confidence and capacity to live safely and independently. 

We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate Team Leader for a permanent full time opportunity to work in the Albert Park area. You will provide leadership and support a team to deliver person-centred, recovery-oriented care to clients to develop daily living and social skills, build community networks, achieve wellbeing goals and live independently in the community. The Team Leader will act as the practice lead to staff providing supervision, mentoring and coaching. 

Key responsibilities

  • Coach and lead a team to deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
  • Support clients to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
  • Lead and model effective practice to staff working with clients, provide support to families and carers, and plan and deliver group work.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the service including administration, rostering, facilitating handovers, recruitment and planning budget expenditure.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to client’s recovery goals.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Experience in guiding a team to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and develop a team to achieve best quality service outcomes and provide professional supervision.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and capacity to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
