About the role

The Housing with Support residential service is a long-term integrated social housing program for people living with severe and enduring psychosocial disability. The Housing with Support residences are staffed 24/7 and designed like a ‘home away from home’ funded through client’s NDIS packages with practice guided by Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice, SIL model and Dual Disability framework. The service works collaboratively with clients providing personalised 1:1 support, shared supports and group activities based on strengths and goals identified in an individual’s recovery plan to build daily living skills, strengthen relationships with families and carers, enhance social connections and community networks, and grow confidence and capacity to live safely in the community.

We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate Team Leader for a 12 month fixed term, full time opportunity with some sleep over shifts to work within the Haven property in the Ballarat area. You will provide leadership and support a team to deliver person-centred, recovery-oriented care to clients to develop daily living and social skills, build community networks, achieve wellbeing goals and live independently in the community. The Team Leader will act as the practice lead to staff providing supervision, mentoring and coaching.

Key responsibilities

• Coach and lead a team to deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
• Support clients to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
• Support staff and assist in providing personal care to our clients.
• Lead and model effective practice to staff working with clients, provide support to families and carers, and plan and deliver group work.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the service including administration, rostering, facilitating handovers, recruitment and planning budget expenditure.
• Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to client’s recovery goals.

What you’ll bring

• Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
• Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
• Experience in guiding a team to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
• Proven ability to effectively lead and develop a team to achieve best quality service outcomes and provide professional supervision.
• Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and capacity to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
