About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Team Leader for a permanent, full time opportunity to work at the Step-Up Step-Down residential service in Mackay. You will provide leadership and support a team to deliver person-centred, recovery-oriented supports to clients to develop daily living and social skills, build community networks, achieve wellbeing goals and live independently in the community. The Team Leader will act as the practice lead to staff providing supervision, mentoring and coaching.

About the service

The Sub-Acute short stay Adult Step-Up Step-Down (ASUSD) residential service, delivered in partnership with Mackay Hospital and Health Service, supports adults with a psychosocial disability up to 28 days transitioning from a hospital setting back into the community or to prevent admissions whilst residing in the community. ASUSD works within a recovery focused, clinical treatment framework providing personalised one-on-one support, shared supports and group activities based on client’s strengths and goals as identified in their recovery plan.

Key responsibilities

  • Coach and lead a team to deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
  • Support clients to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
  • Lead and model effective practice to staff working with clients, provide support to families and carers, and plan and deliver group work.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the service including administration, rostering, facilitating handovers and monitoring budget expenditure.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to client’s recovery goals. 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Experience in guiding a team to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and develop a team to achieve best quality service outcomes and provide professional supervision.
  • Able to provide a record of Vaccination Preventable Diseases or able to obtain vaccinations against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chicken Pox, Whooping Cough, Hepatitis B or other diseases as required by our Partnership with QLD Health.
