- Salary: $106,514.08 Full Time Salary Package (Non-PBI Equivalent) + Super - includes:
- Base Pay: $97,377.28
- Up to $6,385.95 in tax-savings via our offered charity salary packaging.

- Start Time: We offer flexible start times between 8:00 am - 9:30 am.
- Location: Out office is located at the Victorian Pride Centre in St Kilda, an exciting purpose built space for LGBTQIA+ community organisations which includes: a raised Tram Stop within 100m from the building entrance, elevators and accessible bathroom, end of trip facilities and dedicated prayer rooms.

Minus18 is Australia’s charity improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth. We support LGBTQIA+ young people through events and digital platforms, and provide fee for service LGBTQIA+ inclusion training to schools, businesses and community organisations. Since 2011 over 100,000 young people have engaged in these services across Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, and millions more via digital platforms.
ABOUT THIS POSITION
As the Learning Designer at Minus18 you will play a pivotal role in creating, maintaining and designing educational content and resources to further LGBTQIA+ inclusion across multiple audiences (including young people and adults who support them in schools, workplaces and online).
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that seemingly complex topics relating to identity, allyship and LGBTQIA+ inclusion are designed in a way that they are simple to understand, practical to action, and above all, entertaining to engage in. This role will initially focus on our Workshops, Training and Keynote products for schools and workplaces; reviewing our current products and leading the development of new products in collaboration with the team to address identified gaps.
This role will grow to be pivotal in the design of education across all of Minus18, including working with teams on education products (such as eLearning, published educational resources, video scripts, online articles and social media content) as well as internal learning and development resources for our growing team.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Design:
- Uphold Minus18’s education framework & learning principles providing suggestions for improvements and development.
- Design and develop creative and effective learning content (including workshops and e-Learning modules) ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives, ensuring high participant engagement and impact.
- Conduct research and interpret findings into digestible and informative content across multiple audiences.
- Stay up to date with learning trends to continuously improve the quality of our content and the styles in which they are delivered include in-person, online and e-learning.
- Actively review our content ensuring our products reflect the needs of our audiences with an aim to further expand our products.
- In collaboration with internal stakeholders, review and develop new materials, resources and products for our audiences.
- Review our online information and tools and recommend appropriate solutions to improve our audiences access to information.
Content Creation:
- Actively identify and advise on our audience’s learning needs to help shape the direction of our content and products.
- Create new and improve existing workshop content and resources, working closely with Presenter Team Lead on implementation.
- Lead the implementation and ongoing management of e-module content including the scripting and development of our in person videos.
- Create educational articles for our website with the aim of further learning with set learning objectives.
- Create resources for internal team members for further development and ongoing education.
- Actively contribute to the development of learning objectives for internal resources such as articles, websites and downloadable resources.
- Consult with Presenter Team Lead to ensure learning and delivery styles are captured in our educational products.
- Source supporting materials, data and research to elevate our content and further the learning of our audiences.
Content Quality & Maintenance:
- Monitor feedback from external and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on design and delivery of content.
- Improve and maintain existing resources through enhancements and quality improvements.
- Regularly review learning material to ensure relevancy ensuring our content is of high quality and up to date.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of education content through audience engagement and feedback.
- Ensure our designs for our learning material are of a high quality and appealing to our audiences.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
The ideal candidate has:
- Demonstrated experience in an Education Design, Instructional Design or similar position
- Qualification in Instructional Design, Education Design or a related discipline is desirable
- Demonstrated experience in the use of LMS and e-learning platforms and tools
- Sound learning design skills with the ability to translate complex information into engaging learning content
- Demonstrated lived experience and understanding of diverse identities within the LGBTQIA+ community
- Demonstrated passion for Minus18’s mission to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- A successful Police Background Check and Working With Children Check (WWCC) are required for this role. These can be obtained once an offer of employment is made, and before role commencement.
