We support LGBTQIA+ young people through events and digital platforms, and provide fee for service LGBTQIA+ inclusion training to schools, businesses and community organisations. ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Programs Lead will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering Minus18's youth programs, with a focus on our Young Leader and Online Community Program. You will directly contribute to Minus18’s mission to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ Young People. These programs play a vital role in Minus18's work. The Young Leader Program develops leadership skills and provides opportunities for young people to contribute to Minus18's initiatives, while the Online Community Program creates safe, engaging, and socially connected spaces for LGBTQIA+ youth.
The Programs Lead is a passionate Youth and Programs Leader who has strong organisational skills, an unwavering dedication to Minus18's mission, and the ability to cultivate inclusive and engaging environments for LGBTQIA+ youth. The Programs Lead will have a proven track record in youth program development and delivery, with a deep understanding of the unique needs and experiences of LGBTQIA+ youth.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Program delivery: Young Leader Program
- Lead Young Leader Program planning, delivery and evaluation to achieve strategic, funder and program objectives.
- Lead the recruitment of Young Leader Program participants (i.e. recruitment planning, creation of recruitment resources, and promotion plan with the Brand and Marketing Team).
- Plan and facilitate regular program sessions that create an inclusive, engaging and socially connected space for participants.
- Train and supervise Young Leader Program participants to resource Minus18 programs (i.e. Queer Formal events, online community).
- Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to resource Minus18 programs when Young Leader Program Participants are not available.
- Maintain an active database of Program Alumni.
- Lead the sign up and coordination of Young Leader Program Participants and Alumni to engage in additional opportunities (i.e. Minus18 consultation, external stakeholder research).
- Lead an active culture of regular opportunities to showcase the impact of the program (i.e. leading internal visibility of program impact with the team, creating opportunities for stakeholders to attend the program and meet participants)
Program Delivery: Online Community Program
- Lead Online Community planning, delivery and evaluation to achieve strategic, funder and program objectives.
- Plan and facilitate regular online sessions (i.e. via Discord) that create an active, engaging and socially connected space for hundreds of
- LGBTQIA+ young people while maintaining clear scope of work.
- Develop and implement plans for increasing the number of active Online Community participants (i.e. conversion from Minus18 programs, Minus18 website, promotion to wider audiences).
- Develop and implement plans for increasing the number of active participants in other Minus18 programs (i.e. converting Online
- Community participants to other programs, assisting in the creation of program promotional material).
- Maintain community safety and moderation guidelines, ensuring active moderation and appropriateness of online spaces.
- Train and supervise Young Leaders to resource the Online Community Program to grow participant engagement and ensure program workload remains in scope.
Program Success
- Adapt and implement program plans in response to changes in strategic and funder requirements and underperformance.
- Ensure compliance with Youth Safety Practices within all programs.
- Regularly collect and review participant feedback, using data-driven insights to inform future planning and ensure programs are aligned to their objectives.
- Convert program feedback into impact reports (i.e. Annual Report, Post Program Report, and tailored funding reports).
- Maintain an effective relationship with the Partnerships Team, and ensure funding requirements are met (i.e. impact reports are complete on time, program data is up to date and available upon request).
- Ensure programs operate within budget.
- Provide support to the Marketing Team with capturing content within programs.
- Provide coverage for other Program Leads when they are unavailable or needed.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
The ideal candidate has:
- Previous experience in leading youth programs, preferably with a focus on LGBTQIA+ communities.
- Strong leadership and facilitation skills, with demonstrated ability to inspire and mentor.
- Strong understanding of LGBTQIA+ issues including familiarity with youth-related challenges and child safety
- Exceptional organisation, time management and multitasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with the capacity to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
- Demonstrated passion for Minus18's mission to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- A successful Police Background Check and Working With Children Check (WWCC) are required for this role. These can be obtained once an offer of employment is made, and before role commencement.
