Your Opportunity

Join the Townsville Youth Foyer team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people aged 16-25 who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Our integrated support programs are designed to break the cycle of homelessness through the innovative Advantage Thinking practice framework.

As a part of our dynamic team, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive case management, with a focus on establishing direct links to education, employment, social connections, civic participation, health and well-being, housing, and living skills. By doing so, you will contribute to creating a clear path to independence for the young individuals we serve.

In addition to these impactful support services, our program offers young people stable medium-term accommodation for up to a 2-year period. This accommodation is provided in the form of fully furnished apartments within our Youth Foyer, boasting 40 one-bedroom units. Join us in fostering positive change and empowering young lives through the Townsville Youth Foyer initiative.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Be the main point of contact with tenants throughout their tenancy
  • Conduct all of the arrangements to lease vacant properties quickly and effectively
  • Work with tenants to assist and support them in maintaining their tenancies, including linking tenants to support services as needed
  • Carry out property inspections at least every 6 months and complete required property reports
  • Ensure tenant rents are paid on time
  • Attend court/tribunal hearings where necessary to represent the interest of the organisation
  • Ensure tenancy and property records are kept up to date and information recorded meets the organisations and Regulatory standards
  • Maintain positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Actively contribute to developing and implementing strategies that connect tenants to additional support

Requirements for Success

  • Community housing experience or property management experience required
  • Knowledge of the QLD Residential Tenancy Act and QCAT process would be preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable client groups desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products for reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Current Drivers' Licence, WWCC are essential
  • Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to gain one
