Your Opportunity

The Intensive Family Support service is an early intervention and prevention intensive family support service for families with children aged 0-18 who are at risk of entry or re-entry into Child Safety Services under the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women. Its primary purpose is to improve the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable children. Mission Australia provides this service in three Queensland locations - Inala/Goodna, Pine Rivers/Deception Bay and Ipswich.

We currently have a full time (38 hours per week) permanent vacancy for an Intensive Family Support Program Manager – working across our Deception Bay and Pine Rivers sites, and supporting a team of 16. 

Your passion to make a difference along with your superior experience in team management will make you an ideal candidate for this role.  You will be comfortable overseeing a service, including the financial, administrative and reporting functions.  The role will also be responsible for encouraging the promotion of sustainable change in family circumstances and functioning, resulting in a reduction in contact with the statutory child protection system.

Duties will include:

  • Ensuring program delivery is client-focused, effective and in line with contractual agreements
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Leadership and management of a team to ensure positive outcomes and successful results
  • Financial Management and administration; regular reporting and completion of case information

Requirements for Success

With an already established career in the child, youth and family sector you will offer significant experience working with Child Protection in a management role, and some of the skills and capabilities you bring will include:

  • A background in child protection, youth work or out of home care with demonstrable knowledge of Early Intervention principles
  • Several years’ practical experience working within strengths-based, family-focused frameworks
  • Ability to provide guidance and mentoring to a team with differing levels of experience
  • Strong report writing, budget and financial management skills; understanding Child Protection legislation and guidelines
  • Dedication to engaging and establishing relationships with community groups; effectively networking with referrers, Government and non-Government organisations
  • Exceptional crisis management skills including the ability to quickly and effectively assess risk and safety
  • Top level communication skills and the ability to establish and build rapport with a range of both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills; able to work to deadlines effectively

You will need to hold a degree in Human or Social Services, Social Work, Psychology or a similar field; and hold a current Blue Card and Queensland Driver Licence.

Before starting work with us, you will be required to undertake a National Police History Check, Qualifications and Reference Checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
